How will the internet affect our lives in 10 years?
1. the laptop I am currently using will be obsolete
2. the air card I using to access the internet for $60.00 a month will be free
3. the use of cell phones will be more common than home phones will be considered dinosaurs
4. webcam will be used by everyone to spy on each other’s activities
(similar to the security camera)
5. less paper money more wireless transactions (similar to finger printing transactions)
6. Internet service will be free because the internet has made lives so simple
it will be a standard for all homes built in the next 10 years.
7. online courses will be the norm (with video camera)
8. I start every morning listening to internet radio from my laptop. Once I am up and ready
to begin my day, I check my bank account online. I begin my day by checking my AOL
account. Once I arrive at work, I log on to my work computer and check emails from
two separate log in network systems our newest (GROUPWISE).
9. My job is basically checking on new clients receiving information on old and new updating the information in our network system. Before my new supervisor for 6 months started I kept both paper and a computer spreadsheet, now I only do a spreadsheet that is available to email to all the courts, supervisors and management teams. The system of keeping all documents available by spreadsheet has proven to be very effective.
10. Emails are a must for communicating effectively with staff more than 25 people a day. Pop -ups are great for quick responses. The fax machine is a great networks source. However, the current network services work great for quick emails and solution to many problems that a solved by a click or touch of a keystroke. My current assignment links me to a large server Dallas County. Dallas County currently repairs most problems through a help desk. The biggest problems they experience are passwords. Many employees including myself forget their passwords before they use them again.

Good post and thought provoking! Internet service in all new homes like cable ready homes are now. Isn't that interesting! What about land phone lines. I truly believe within ten years that will be out especially if 911 becomes compatable with wireless phones. Interesting huh???
